Shakhtar Academy teams claimed victories in summer pre-season tournaments
The Shakhtar Academy teams resumed the training process at the end of July and are actively preparing for the start of the new DUFLU season, training in Shchaslyve. Pre-season tournaments where Shakhtar participate play an important role in the preparation for the season. This allows the coaches of the Academy to give playing time to both the main footballers and the beginners, as well as to assess the teams' readiness for the first matches of the Ukrainian Youth Football League.
Oskar Ratulutra, Shakhtar Academy coordinator:
– The Shakhtar Academy teams are preparing for the new DUFL season, and there have been some changes in the coaching staff during the summer pre-season. To ensure the teams are as well-prepared as possible for the season and to help coaches and players adapt to each other’s demands, it was decided to involve all age categories in tournaments to get playing time. There is high competition in the Academy, which has a positive effect on the development prospects of footballers. In addition, the teams are primarily represented at the competitions by younger squads. This approach is driven by the desire to play against strong opponents, as such matches force the boys to make quicker decisions and adapt faster, which aids their development. Shakhtar U13 will soon take part in the Utmost Cup tournament to be held on August 26–29 in Vinnytsia, while the other teams will train and play test matches at the Academy facility in Shchaslyve.
