On August 16–17, Arigato Cup football tournament for children was held in Shchaslyve
The competition was organised as a sign of gratitude to the Japanese people for supporting Ukrainians. The participants of the tournament included 60 boys and girls aged 10 to 11, taking part in the Come On, Let’s Play! project, from all over Ukraine: Dobropillia (Donetsk Oblast), Kobleve (Mykolaiv Oblast), Zaporizhzhia, Svitlovodsk (Kirovohrad Oblast), Dobrotvir and Brody (Lviv Oblast).
The intense programme included various sports and entertainment activities. On the first day, coaches and team captains participated in the draw ceremony, where groups and team names were determined. On the same day, a thematic quiz about Japan took place, and the winners received prizes from FC Shakhtar. The second day was dedicated to football and origami workshop.
According to the results of the competition, the team from Donetsk Oblast won the tournament, and Shakhtar U19 captain Mykola Oharkov, who also trained within the Come On, Let’s Play! project at one time, attended the Arigato Cup award ceremony.
FC Shakhtar and the Shakhtar Social foundation express gratitude to the Japanese friends and Apaman for supporting Ukraine in difficult times. Children’s positive emotions and the opportunity to play football are very important.
