UAF president Andrii Shevchenko took part in the ceremony of awarding Shakhtar with the UPL gold medals and gave an interview to the club’s media
– Andrii Mykolaiovych, today you attended the ceremony of awarding Shakhtar with gold medals. How did this event go?
– Very well, very emotionally. Winning the league for the second time in a row, when a full-scale war is going on in Ukraine, demonstrating modern and cool football – well done. I enjoyed watching the matches, and they were very fundamental and intense, so becoming champions is a big deal. Congratulations to the whole team, the coaching staff and the head coach, congratulations to the president and the club on such an achievement.
– If we talk about the memories, what are your impressions of the last season in general?
– As I said, there were very intense, good matches. If we look back, the matches were held in very difficult conditions with pauses, teams could not return to the field for hours, some matches took more than one day. I think, in general, it was a very difficult experience for everyone. But I remember interesting matches: for example, when Shakhtar played against Dynamo, it is such a fundamental and very beautiful match. That is why good games are remembered.
– What do you think is the current level of our Ukrainian football and what is its stage of development?
– I think that Ukrainian football is at a stable, good level. But this level must be confirmed every day. The European Cups are starting now, so I wish our clubs that will represent the country in this arena to perform as well as possible, to play quality football and get as many points as possible, which is very important for Ukraine. And as an example I can mention Shakhtar – it is a team that consistently play at the European level, that demonstrate beautiful football and give the result. Most points gained by our teams came from Shakhtar.
– Finally, what are your wishes for all Ukrainian fans?
– The new season has already started, the European autumn will begin for Ukraine soon – we are all waiting for it. So I wish everyone good health and many emotions. Support your home clubs that you cheer for with all your heart. And most importantly, support the national team.
