On August 5, the ceremony of awarding of Shakhtar players and coaches with gold medals of the 2023/24 UPL winners took place at the Sviatoshyn training complex near Kyiv.
Before the start of the ceremony, FC Shakhtar CEO Serhii Palkin addressed the audience and emphasised the contribution of each team member and the club to the success of the previous season in his speech.

– Today we gathered to receive awards for which we competed throughout the last season – the gold medals of the Ukrainian League. I want to congratulate everyone who put a lot of effort into this success: footballers, coaches, medical and administrative staff. All those who worked very hard and persistently for this result day after day, who won victory after victory and thanks to whom we finally receive gold medals today. Our head coach Marino Pusic and his coaching staff led us to this title. It is their first big achievement at Shakhtar, and I am sure it is not the last. I think we have many, many victories ahead. And I also want to wish success in the new season. As the president of our club Rinat Akhmetov says, we must hold the gold medals of the champions of Ukraine in our hands every season, because this colour suits Shakhtar very well.

And you did it for your fans. So I congratulate you on this victory. Well done. I want to wish you to perform well in the European arena this year and represent your club and Ukraine there.

– I would like to note that these gold awards are worth much more, because you won them not just in the Ukrainian League, but in the championship that is held in the emergency conditions of martial law. I want to thank the leaders and the management of the club: given the situation you are in, not having the permanent location, you are doing very important things. I wish the players to stay in the game as long as possible, and the new victories and new achievements to the coaching staff!
In turn, head coach of Shakhtar Marino Pusic, under whose guidance the team achieved a golden double in the previous season, thanked the players and the club and noted the main quality he sees in this team.
