Every game in the league is important, so we approach each one accordingly and hope that we will be able to get a positive result
Yehor Kostiuk, defender:
– We prepared for the game in the usual way. We know that the opponents are combative and aim to demonstrate a decent level of football. Every game in the league is important, so we approach each one accordingly and hope that we will be able to get a positive result. In the summer pre-season, the squad has undergone some changes, but more experienced performers support the newcomers, helping them to adapt properly in the team.
Opponents
Polissia U19 begin their second season in the Youth League under the leadership of Hennadii Lytovchenko. Together with him, the team fought for bronze medals until the last round in the debut season, but in the end, having scored 49 points, they finished the competition in the 5th spot of the table. It should be noted that last year's leaders Vladyslav Mezentsev, Oleksandr Ivanov and Mykhailo Rasko are in Polissia-2, while Danyil Checher moved to Veres.
The Zhytomyr-based side started the new season with an away victory against Rukh U19 (1-0). For most of the match, they defended reliably, kept a clean sheet, and scored from a counterattack in stoppage time, with Rybak finishing the move.
Match background
The opponents met twice in the previous season, with the Orange-and-Blacks celebrating victory on both occasions.
Previous meeting
On May 24, the opponents met at Spartak Arena in the last round of the Youth League. The Miners set a high pace from the opening minutes, and Demchenko should have scored in the 6th minute. The hosts responded with the opportunity of Kulmaliiev, who did not convert the one-on-one situation. Later, the Pitmen had the initiative, but they did not manage to score before the break. Instead, the second half was extremely effective. First, Mykytiuk scored a penalty, and later the Pitmen responded with a brace by Dabo and a stunning free-kick goal by Smetana. As a result, the Orange-and-Blacks won confidently – 3-1.
