Former Shakhtar player Junior Moraes visited the Miners' training session in Gelsenkirchen ahead of the Champions League match against Bayern

– Hello, Junior! You came to Germany to see Shakhtar. How was the meeting with your former teammates and friends? What are your emotions right now?
– First of all, I would like to greet all Ukrainians! I’m really happy to be here. Coming here and seeing the team is an incredible feeling. I recently announced my retirement and therefore I could not help but see the team. I’m happy that Shakhtar invited me to the match. It’s nice to be close to the club and experience these moments, especially now that I’ve decided to hang up my boots. A very special moment for me because this is a club where I had excellent working and living conditions: here I became a champion, here I found myself, I developed both in football and off the field. Everything that the team are currently implementing on the field deserves praise, but the behaviour towards Ukraine and its people, everything that the club does off the field, also matters a lot, in my opinion. That's why I'm happy to be here.

– What did you talk about with the players, Darijo Srna, the club management and employees?
– I’m always infinitely happy to see old friends and important people for the club, such as Darijo, the staff, doctors – everyone involved in working with the team. I have built many friendly ties within the club over these years. We've shared many different experiences together, and because of that, I have very a warm feeling in my soul for those who work here. This is a very solidly organized club that provides the players with what they need and really forms its own identity. That's why I'm sincerely glad to see everyone again, to visit this training session. And I'm also looking forward to the game.

– What do you expect from the upcoming match between Shakhtar and Bayern?
– I have very high expectations for the match. I’m sure we’re in for a very, very interesting game, and who knows, maybe it will go down in Shakhtar’s history as a victory over Bayern. Perhaps something historic and incredible awaits the club. That's what I will be rooting for. Therefore, experiencing such a moment now, against the backdrop of the end of my career, is truly special. The honour that Shakhtar has shown me is extremely important to me.
