Shakhtar forward Danylo Sikan shared his thoughts in the MEGOGO post-match studio after the Champions League game against Bayern
– Danylo, we understand that everyone is very upset, but Shakhtar were leading at a certain point, and it seemed the game was quite even. How would you assess the match?
– We could have finished the first half better, at 1-1, but in the end, we ended the match 1-5, which is very painful. We could have played much better.
Your emotions were noticeable after the second goal was conceded, as you appeared to be on edge. Did you try to encourage the guys, because you actively told them something, or were there any complaints about the episode?
– We made a childish mistake, and I emphasized that we should communicate more.
– What was the general plan for the match? Many expected Shakhtar to play more defensively, on the counterattack, but it seemed like you tried to dictate your play.
– We played that way, more defensively, trying to orchestrate counterattacks. But we understand that it is very difficult to do this against one of the best teams in the world. In the first half, we managed it well, and at the beginning of the second half, everything was going fine. But after conceding the third goal, we perhaps lost our composure a bit, and that’s why the situation on the pitch turned out the way it did.
– Of these five goals, the second and third are the ones that are remembered the most. In your opinion, which of them was the turning point in this match?
– I think the second goal because it would have been better to go into the break at 1-1, not 1-2. I think this goal broke us.
