Fans will choose Shakhtar's best goal of 2024 within two weeks
FC Shakhtar is presenting the traditional New Year’s Eve Goal Battle project.. We bring you 16 of the most beautiful and important goals scored this year. These are goals scored by the Pitmen in the UPL and the Champions League, by the women's team and the Shakhtar Academy players.
Project format
The goals are divided into pairs, starting from the round of 16. From December 18, videos of two goals will be published daily on the club's official Instagram page for fans to choose the best one by commenting with the scorer's name. The winner will advance to the next round. The quarter-final stage will last from December 23 to 26, the semi-finals will be held on December 27 and 28. The 2024 Goal Battle winner will be unveiled on December 31.
Goal Battle legends
The best goal of the first season of the project in 2018 was Viktor Kovalenko's beautiful shot against Dynamo Kyiv. The winner of 2019 was Taras Stepanenko's goal, also scored in the Ukrainian Clasico. After that, Alan Patrick earned recognition twice in a row – in 2020, fans appreciated his volley in the Europa League match against Benfica, and in 2021, liked his powerful long-ranger into the top corner, which secured Shakhtar's victory over Dynamo in the Ukrainian Super Cup. The winner of 2022 was Mykhailo Mudryk's spectacular shot in the Champions League match against Scottish Celtic. And the goal scored by the Pitmen’s legend Yaroslav Rakitskyi in the Europa League Round of 16 match against Feyenoord became the best of the previous year, 2023.
