On February 23, Shakhtar women’s team met with Dynamo

The game was played in 2 halves 40 minutes each. Head coach Roman Zaiev made two changes compared to the previous match: Lutsan and Yanieva appeared in the starting eleven.

Accurate shot from Mostova

The opening minutes of the encounter saw fighting for the initiative. The opponents took turns in possession of the ball, but did not threaten the goal. The Blue-and-Whites moved the ball forward using long passes, while the Orange-and-Blacks attacked positionally with a subsequent crosses to the goal area from the flank. Shakhtar gradually increased the pressure and looked sharper. In the 20th minute, Starukhina got from under pressure and hit the goalkeeper from mid-range. In two minutes, the Miners opened the score: as a result of a challenge near the penalty area, the referee awarded a set piece, with Mostova converting it through a shot under the crossbar. The next episode also turned out to be effective: Mokhnach, after playing one-two with Mariia Vykaliuk, quickly rushed down the flank and passed to Vykaliuk who doubled the advantage through a one-touch shot from beneath the defender. In response, Dynamo threatened from set pieces, but did not manage to make a good shot by the end of the first half.

Toe-to-toe

During the break, head coach Roman Zaiev rotated the line-up: Kravchuk, Ustinova, Chendei and Zavidova took the field. The play pattern did not change, the teams took turns in possession and acted mainly in the central part of the field. From the middle of the half, the Miners were more ambitious, which led to a scoring opportunity in the 57th minute: Zavidova received the ball from the centre, moved to the penalty area, passed it to Maslovska, whose shot was blocked, with Kravchuk being the first on the ball – above the target. Another chance was created by Yanieva when, after a corner kick, she threatened from a mid-range, but the ball went over the crossbar after a powerful shot. Subsequently, Dynamo managed to make a transition from defence and reduce the advantage of the opponents to a minimum: Chaika intercepted the ball and scored one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Before the final whistle, Shakhtar continued to control the ball and mostly threatened from Yuliana Zavidova’s wing.
