On February 3, Shakhtar played a test match against Czech club Hradec Kralove

Head coach of the Orange-and-Blacks Marino Pusic chose the following line-up for the first friendly game on Saturday: Riznyk played in the goal, Konoplia, Bondar, Matviienko and Azarov formed the defensive line, Kryskiv, Bondarenko and Sudakov (team captain in this game) appeared in the midfield, Zubkov and Kevin acted as wingers, and Sikan had a central forward position.

Shakhtar’s activity and missed counterattack

Shakhtar started as leaders, and already in the beginning of the game, Sikan was at the sharp angle to the goal and shot immediately, but the ball went near the far post. The Miners combined a lot in the opponent’s half of the field, and during one of these attacks, Sudakov found Konoplia in the penalty area with a cool cross, the latter then made a one-touch shot, but none of the teammates managed to turn it home. The Czechs responded with set pieces and infrequent counterattacks, but they opened the scoring in the 22nd minute: the attack on the left wing ended with a cross to the middle of the penalty area, and Sasinka sent the ball into the right corner on the volley. After that, the Orange-and-Blacks literally pressed the opponents to their goal, but numerous shots and crosses or attempts to beat the defence of the Czechs positionally did not give results, so Shakhtar left for a break with a minimal lead of the opponents.

A series of moments of the Miners and the efficiency of the Czechs

The second half started with a dangerous moment in Shakhtar’s penalty area, but Riznyk saved Vasulin’s shot from ten meters. In response, Kryskiv put Sikan in one on one with an excellent splitting pass, but the ball flew over the goal after Danylo’s shot and deflection. Sudakov had a good chance, but he did not manage to push the ball into the net from the box line. Already in the next episode, the goalkeeper saved his team after Kevin’s powerful long-range shot under the crossbar. The second goal of the Czechs was absolutely illogical amid such pressure from the Orange-and-Blacks: in the 66th minute, Sasinka decided to shoot from outside the penalty area, and the ball flew into the near corner. The Ukrainians continued to move forward, and Sudakov’s sharp cross passed through the entire penalty area, but none of the teammates could put a foot down. Kryskiv shot dangerously – a strong kick to the centre of the goal was saved by the opponent’s keeper. Closer to the end of the match, the Czechs went on the defensive with the whole team and did not allow Shakhtar to change the score. 0-2 – Shakhtar lost to FC Hradec Kralove.

Marino Pusic’s team will have another test match today. The game against Bosnian Velez will kick off at 16:30 Kyiv time and will be streamed live on Shakhtar’s YouTube channel and the FC Shakhtar app (App Store and Google Play).
