On February 3, Shakhtar played a test match against Bosnian Velez

Head coach of the Miners Marino Pusic completely changed the line-up in the second friendly match of the day compared to the morning game against Czech club Hradec Kralove: Rudko played in the goal, Latsabidze and Pedrinho were full-backs, Lemkin and Miroshi appeared in the centre of defence, Gocholeishvili, Nazaryna and Tsukanov acted in the middle of the field, Shved and Ocheretko played on the attacking wings, and Eguinaldo was at the helm.

Tsukanov and Shved responded to the opponent’s goals

From the starting whistle, the teams played at a fast pace and began to exchange sharp attacks. Eguinaldo dribbled the ball across the half of the field and powerfully shot into the target from outside the penalty area – the Bosnian goalkeeper saved his team. The Brazilian should have scored after a perfect cross by Gocholeishvili, but he hit the goalkeeper from a few meters. But the opponents took their chance: in the 24th minute, the teammates put Guliashvili in one on one, and he opened the scoring. However, Shakhtar equalised the score in the next attack: a wonderful passing move ended with Shved’s pass to Viktor Tsukanov, who shot from the penalty area line, and the ball flew into the net – 1-1. Closer to the end of the half, the teams exchanged sharp moments by Ocheretko (who shot in centimetres from the post) and Caic (who missed the target from advantageous position) at first, and then they exchanged goals again. In the 43rd minute, Rudko saved the shot from the penalty area, Caic was the first to pursue rebounds, and he gave Velez a lead for the second time. However, in the 45th minute, the rapid attack of the Orange-and-Blacks on the left wing ended with Pedrinho’s cross to the far post, which Marian Shved turned home with a one-touch shot – 2-2.

An early goal by the Bosnians and the Miners’ attempts to fight back

During the break, there was a change in Shakhtar line-up: Eduard Kozik replaced Latsabidze on the field. The Bosnian team took the lead again at the start of the second half: in the 47th minute, Haskic took advantage of Shakhtar’s mistake in defence and beat Rudko in a close duel. Pedrinho had an opportunity to respond, but the ball flew over the target after his strong shot. In general, during the second half of the match, Shakhtar were in the possession of the ball more, had a game advantage and created several scoring chances. Eguinaldo could have scored after Tsukanov’s wing cross, but his shot from the centre of the penalty area was blocked by the defenders. Later, 17-year-old Tsukanov shot from the penalty area line – the goalkeeper pulled the ball out from under the post. Pedrinho skilfully threw the ball behind the defenders to Shved, who handled it and shot with the second touch – in centimetres from the post. In the final 10 minutes, Oleh Pushkarov, a player of the youth team, came on for the Orange-and-Blacks and had his moment: after a cross from the back, the young midfielder shot on the volley, but missed the target. 2-3 – Shakhtar lost minimally to Velez in the second test match of the day.

Marino Pusic’s team have a week of training camp ahead, and the next friendly matches are scheduled for February 8.
