Shakhtar midfielder Eguinaldo spoke about the friendly match against Besiktas, his fitness and goals for the new season
– Eguinaldo, Shakhtar defeated Besiktas in the test match through your goal. How would you analyse this meeting?
– Such situations usually evoke wonderful feelings. I'm glad I was able to help the team. It's also nice to score for my personal statistics. The game was really tough. Besiktas were organized and handled the ball well, but we managed to counter their actions.
– Recall and describe the scoring episode.
– It was quite an unexpected goal for me. I just did my usual job, saw an opportunity to head and scored. That's all.
– We noticed that you have a new celebration after you score. What does it mean as it looks interesting?
– It is an old family tradition. My celebration represents the first letter of my mother's name.
– Speaking about your fitness, do you think you have rediscovered optimal physical from?
– I continue to work every day with the team – both physically and mentally. I'm not sure if achieving perfection is possible, so we work and improve every day.
– There are more Brazilians at Shakhtar at the summer camp. Pedrinho and Tobias have arrived. Have you gotten to know each other yet?
– I had the opportunity to play with Vinicius for Brazil U20, and I had heard about Pedrinho before. We talked during the training camp. They are wonderful and pleasant guys, I am sure that together we will be able to be useful to Shakhtar.
– Pedrinho is the oldest international player at Shakhtar. Does he share his experiences with you?
– Of course he does! It is more about mental and moral behaviour. It is valuable assistance, we strive to take it.
– Shakhtar will start the new season at the beginning of August. What are your goals?
– My goals are the most ambitious: always winning, passing as many stages as possible in competitions and helping the team through scoring and assisting.
