Shakhtar women's team continue their preparation for the new season
On Tuesday, July 9, the women's team held another session at the Academy facility in Shchaslyve within the first training camp.
The morning drill began with entertaining exercises in subgroups to maintain a good emotional background with an emphasis on improving decision-making speed and developing reactions with active movement within a limited part of the pitch. The girls devoted the main part to work on dribbling and ball handling. The session lasted more than an hour and ended with a mini-tournament, during which the girls paid attention to the shooting accuracy.
Roman Zaiev, head coach:
– We are approaching the end of the first preparatory cycle, which was introductory. On July 10, the team will have a small-sided game, where we will decide on the trialists. After the game, we will form a team that will work in a two-time mode and prepare for the new season.
– Tell us, what were you focused on at this stage?
– The main task was to analyse to what extent the level of the new players corresponds to the level of the team, whether they have the desire to progress and stay with the team, so all preparatory exercises were aimed at determining the technical and tactical level of the players and were selected taking into account game episodes. We drew conclusions in accordance with the results of successful performance of these tasks.
– Can we take it that the team are properly engaged in work and perform all tasks after a long vacation?
– We used the vacation to recover from the mental and physical strain of the previous season, so we emphasized that the girls should rest and start training with new energy. Footballers understand and have an appropriate level of responsibility, they know how to behave at training sessions in order to adequately prepare for the new season.
– Will the loads increase in the future?
– Of course! The primary task of the preparatory cycle was to determine the level of all the girls and bring them to the common standard. The intensity and volume of work will increase starting from the second training cycle.
