The Ukraine national team held the final friendly before Euro 2024 in Chisinau

Head coach of the national team Serhii Rebrov included four Shakhtar players in the starting line-up of the Blue-and-Yellows: Mykola Matviienko acted in the centre of defence, Yukhym Konoplia appeared on the right defensive wing, captain of the national team Taras Stepanenko and Heorhii Sudakov played in the middle of the field.

The Ukrainians started the meeting powerfully and opened the scoring in the 2nd minute: Matviienko headed the ball excellently in the centre of the field and led Roman Yaremchuk to the goal, and the latter hit the top left corner – 0-1. The Blue-and-Yellows continued leading and creating moments: Yaremchuk and Shaparenko hit the goalkeeper from good positions, Tsyhankov shot over the crossbar. The team managed to score for the second time shortly before the break, and again the Miner acted as an assistant: Sudakov found Viktor Tsyhankov in the penalty area with a quality pass, and the latter hit the far corner of the goal of the Moldovans – 0-2.

At the very beginning of the second half, the score became crushing: Sudakov became the author of the assist again, passing to Artem Dovbyk, who shot accurately into the near corner, in the penalty area – 0-3. Immediately after that, Mudryk and Konoplia had a great chance, but their shots were saved by the goalkeeper. And in the 54th minute, Heorhii Sudakov added a scored goal to two assists: after playing with Dovbyk, Shakhtar midfielder beat the goalkeeper from the right edge of the penalty area – 0-4. Only after that, the Ukrainians decreased their attacking speed and allowed the host team to have more possession. Serhii Rebrov made a series of substitutions, and in the 69th minute, another Miner, Oleksandr Zubkov, entered the game. The rest of the match passed almost without moments, the result remained unchanged until the final whistle. 4-0 – the Ukrainians claimed a confident victory over Moldova in the friendly match.

On June 17, the Ukraine national team will start their 2024 European Championship campaign with the match against the Romania national team in Germany. The game will take place in Munich and will kick off at 16:00.
