Shakhtar U19 head coach Oleksii Bielik commented on the game against Minaj U19 and shared the team’s plans
– Congratulations. What will be your resume of the match?
– Shakhtar U19 should not finish the match 3-2 leading 3-0 and give the opponents an opportunity to come back. In this way, we give a signal to future opponents that even with a large gap in the score the game is not over yet. The team started the match well and scored three goals. We should have scored twice more, but if, for example, in the match against Kolos U19 we did not convert our chances, now some players thought that after three goals the match was decided and there was no need to press and play with full dedication. It is not only the goalkeeper's fault in the first conceded goal – many footballers did not work well because Minaj U19 players were in a striking position when it should not have been this way. Shakhtar U19 are a team that play intelligently, skilfully, through medium and short passing, and with proper interaction, where one player knows the next action of his teammate. Our guys have to play like that, and if a performer doesn't have the necessary skills, he shouldn't be in the team. We pay a lot of attention to smart football, but that doesn't mean you don't need to tackle, use acceleration and help your teammates in defence. Without it, all the skills and mutual understanding will not work. We must always appear for a game fully focused and dedicated, act at a high pace. The match against Minaj U19 is a wake-up call for the players before the decisive part of the season. Hopefully we'll have enough time during the break to work through the issues.
– What are the plans for the two-week game break?
– We will organize the training process to allow the players to rest, but not for too long. We decided to hold a friendly meeting with UCSA on March 15. We understand that three players will go to play the matches of the youth national team and the same number will return to the squad, some of the players will probably join the senior team for the friendly match against Karpaty. We will also hold a test game against Chaika Vyshhorod. Control matches will provide a large amount of information about the players I will count on in the decisive part of the season.
