Shakhtar women's team hosted Kolos on the Vyshcha League second stage MD 2

Shakhtar women’s team head coach Roman Zaiev made two substitutions in the starting eleven compared to the match against Vorskla: Ustinova and Maslovska appeared from the off instead of Klimova and Vykaliuk.

Counter-attack conversion

The opening minutes of the meeting saw fighting for the initiative and were remembered for the dangerous flank run from Mokhnach. The opponents played at a high pace and pressed immediately in case of losing the ball. The Miners mainly moved the ball forward using high and medium passes, while Kolos attacked positionally. Towards the middle of the half, the opponents exchanged attempts: first, Molodiuk shot into the goalkeeper's hands from the edge of the penalty area, then Ostapiv got an opportunity after a pass from Serbuk – Ustinova was there. Subsequently, the visitors began to control the ball in the Orange-and-Blacks’ half of the field and looked more ambitious, but failed to score one-on-one with the goalkeeper twice: the shot from Liliana Serbuk, who intercepted the ball after a turnover by Lutsan, passed just few centimetres from the far post, and in the next episode Viktoriia Ostapiv wasted a chance when she got ahead of the defenders and hit the goalkeeper. At the end of the half, the Orange-and-Blacks moved the ball away from their own goal and managed to convert a counter-attack: Mokhnach found Molodiuk through a cross, with the latter sending the ball past the defender, moving from the flank to the penalty area and making it 1-0.

Conceded goals due to mistakes

After the break, Shakhtar coaching staff made a substitution: Vykaliuk took the field instead of Maslovska. The second half was spent toe-to-toe. In the 62nd minute, the visitors orchestrated the attack down the left flank, and after a cross in the penalty area, Lutsan played with her hand, so the referee awarded a fair penalty, with Maiborodina converting it. After the conceded ball, the Orange-and-Blacks gradually seized the initiative and orchestrated attacks through the midfield and the flank of Vykaliuk, but they were unable to pass through the dense defence and strike home. In the 77th minute, Mostova had to shot after playing one-two with Yanieva, but passed the ball to the goal area where Kolos defenders were the first on the ball. In the 81st minute, the Kovalivka-based team moved the Miners to their own goal by pressing high and took advantage of Ustinova's mistake. In the end, the game took place in the midfield, with no scoring opportunities. Shakhtar lost to Kolos 1-2 in the first home match of the year.

The next clash of the Vyshcha League second stage will take place after a two-week international break. On April 14, Roman Zaiev’s side will meet with Metalist 1925.
