Shakhtar faced Obolon Kyiv in the away match of the 22nd round of the UPL

Head coach of the Miners Marino Pusic chose the following starting line-up for the game: Riznyk played in the goal, Matviienko and Bondar appeared in the centre of defence, Konoplia and Azarov played on the wings, Kryskiv, Bondarenko and Sudakov played in the middle of the field, Shved and Kevin acted as wingers, and Sikan had a central forward position.

Sikan opened the scoring, Shved assisted and scored himself

In the beginning of the meeting, there was an intensity near the goal of Shakhtar, when Sukhanov’s long-range shot went near the post. But subsequently, the Orange-and-Blacks seized the initiative and created several dangerous moments: Shved’s powerful shot from the penalty area was turned for a corner by the goalkeeper of Kyiv team, and later Kychak saved his team after Bondarenko’s shot and Konoplia’s follow-up. The team managed to open the scoring in the 16th minute: Shved led Danylo Sikan to the goal with a splitting pass in the centre, the latter beat the goalkeeper and scored into an unguarded net – 0-1. After the conceded goal, Obolon also started playing: Chernenko shot over the crossbar from the penalty area, and Sukhanov’s header from advantageous position missed the target. Among the Miners, Marian Shved distinguished himself by his activity. His first shot was saved by Kychak, the second one missed the target, and the winger scored at the third attempt – he regained the ball near the opponent’s penalty area and hit the far corner with a deflection. And in the time added to the first half, Obolon player Serhii Sukhanov was sent off for a tackle from behind against Shved.

Debut of Marlon Gomes and Shved’s brace

At the beginning of the second half, the coaching staff of Shakhtar fielded Stepanenko instead of Kryskiv, and later Gocholeishvili replaced Konoplia. The teams exchanged dangerous opportunities – Kychak saved Sudakov’s long-range shot into the corner, and Kyiv team player Moroz scored from outside the penalty area, but the goal was not counted due to offside. In the 59th minute, the Orange-and-Blacks made another double substitution: Traore came on instead of Sikan, and Sudakov was replaced by Marlon Gomes, for whom this match was the first for Shakhtar. The Miners continued to control the game and create goal-scoring opportunities: Traore shot just above the target after Kevin’s pass, and then the Brazilian player completed the combination move of his teammates from a few meters, but did not kick the ball properly. In the final stretch of the match, Marino Pusic made the last substitution and released Eguinaldo, and in the 90th minute the final score was set by the main hero of the match, Marian Sved, who played with Traore and beat the goalkeeper from the penalty area.

3-0 – Shakhtar defeated Obolon and strengthened their leadership in the UPL.
