– It seems that today’s game against Shakhtar is a bit different from the cup match. What is the general analysis of the meeting?
– In terms of the result, not very good, unfortunately. I think that Shakhtar’s victory is natural. There are no questions about that at all. There was a considerable difference in class, skills and a very big difference in the speed qualities of footballers. We understand that Shakhtar’s selection of performers is very strong, and they are a force that is not easy to deal with.
– Another game against Shakhtar is in four days. Did you see the weaknesses of the opponent that you can use in the next game?
– You know, it will not be very humble, perhaps even ridiculous, on my part to analyse and evaluate Shakhtar. It is a great club where everything is right and at the highest level in terms of football. We see that this is a really great club based on the results and the performance.
– Did you not get the impression that the condition and level of Shakhtar players make you move away from the usual principles and ideas of the game of Chornomorets?
– I totally agree, and, of course, we made some adjustments for the game. We cannot bang our head against the wall and have to approach everything sensibly. We understood that we will fight against the performers with fantastic speed qualities multiplied by the skills. We should not approach the match primitively only because we want to and it is our style of play. Of course, when the difference in class and speed is noticeable, we have to make adjustments. But we really do not want to do this, because we lose the logical line when we practise, believe in the same principles, and suddenly change everything and go deep into the defence, not understanding what we are doing, just on the off chance. We made adjustments, but this does not mean that we are giving up on something. I will tell you openly, in the next game, we will not make any special changes and we will try, but there will be some changes. We understand that it is difficult to do this, especially against such a strong opponent.
– Can you explain why moving matches to Kyiv is convenient for Chornomorets?
– It used to be more or less convenient to get to Lviv, and we could arrive a day earlier, now the schedule has been changed, the train arrives at 6:00. The night is just interrupted, and we felt that it was kind of difficult for us in the cup match because of that, so we did not want to repeat it. The suggested option to move the matches is very suitable for us, because we reached Kyiv on a normal road in four and a half hours. No problems, it is normal for us in such situation. Probably, if there were many fans in the stands, we would not have done this, but there are not many fans now, so we decided to save some energy, because every next game is the most important for Chornomorets.
– A question about Saliuk. We know that you let him risk and generally require the centre-backs to move forward with the ball. How do you assess the psychological state of Volodymyr in this part, because it seems that he overcame the crisis?
– No, we talked to him about two weeks ago and were close to letting him rest and not including him in the squad. But this is the easiest way to get out of a difficult situation. It so happens that his mistake results in a goal, and this is not the first time. I really wanted him to overcome it and become stronger without rest. I wanted to do so, but I will talk to him again. Today the substitution was necessary, and we would have only made it worse for him if we did not apply it.
