Shakhtar women’s team are preparing for the away clash with Kolos
On Thursday, May 2, Shakhtar women’s team held an hour and a half pre-match morning training session at the Academy facility in Shchaslyve.
It began with a warm-up with a fitness coach. Next, the field players switched to work with the ball, while the goalkeepers improved their coordination of movements and speed of reaction to the ball under the leadership of Dmytro Shutkov. After that, the whole team focused on actions in the final attacking phase using deep passes. A 7v7 small-sided game within a limited part of the pitch was play at the end followed by a series of shots.
Mariia Vykaliuk, forward:
– We are preparing for the match against Kolos on a scheduled basis. Our training session, as usual, began with a warm-up, after which we switched to work with the ball. Next, we practised finishing with deep passes. At the end, we had a small-sided game within a limited part of the pitch.
– You are the most prolific at Shakhtar in the current season. What does it mean to you?
– My goals are the result of the work of the entire team. It is clear that without the support and proper interaction with my teammates, I would not be able to score. Of course, I'm happy, I'm grateful to the team, but it's also a big responsibility. The most important thing is that my effective actions bring benefit. I hope to be able to score or assist in future matches and will continue to work hard for that.
– Share your expectations for the match against Kolos.
– Kolos are an experienced team that competes for top spots. Matches with the Kovalivka-based side are always interesting, so we expect a tough match. They are uncompromising, have strong defenders and use set-play attacks. We are preparing hard and have ambitions, so we will try to get a positive result.
