Shakhtar U19 defeated Chornomorets U19 in the 27th round of the Youth League at the Kniazha Arena
There were changes in the starting line-up of Shakhtar U19 compared to the previous match: Kostiuk and Halonskyi were full-backs, Smetana played in the midfield instead of suspended Bundash.
Ball control from the first minutes
The Miners immediately took the ball under their control and created danger near the opponent’s goal. In the 7th minute, Yushchenko was close to a shooting position, but Melnyk knocked down Oleksandr in centimetres from the penalty area, for which the referee awarded a set piece – Smetana made a powerful shot near the post. Two minutes later, Odesa team got a chance from the penalty area, but Hopkalo’s shot went to Barchenko’s hands. In the 18th minute, Shakhtar took the lead: after Yushchenko’s shot from the penalty area the ball deflected off the wall to the goalkeeper – Pirozhok reacted, but he did not block the ball, and Demchenko was the first to pursue rebounds – 1-0. The Orange-and-Blacks pressed the opponent high, and in the 29th minute, they conducted an attack, regaining the ball: Sheleketa passed from the wing to the centre to Losenko, who led Demchenko to a shooting position with an incisive pass – 2-0. Shakhtar U19 continued to attack, while the visiting team played in a low block, relying on quick counterattacks, and rarely switched to positional attacks.

During the break, head coach of Shakhtar U19 Oleksii Bielik made a double substitution: Bashmarin and Drozd replaced Sheleketa and Kostiuk in the defensive line. The Miners continued to play as leaders and controlled the ball in the half of the field of the visiting team. Thus, in the 56th minute, Demchenko intensified the situation, but Anton’s shot hit the goalkeeper. However, Demchenko scored for the third time in the next episode: Anton received a pass from the right wing, ran into the penalty area and shot past the goalkeeper – 3-0. Chornomorets U19 responded with a strong close-range shot by Markov, but Maksym lacked accuracy. Then, Shakhtar U19 had full control of the initiative, acted at a leisurely pace, preventing Chornomorets U19 from creating at least one dangerous opportunity. At the end of the meeting, Halonskyi could have scored after Demchenko’s cross, but Valentyn’s shot went next to the post.
