Shakhtar midfielder Kevin shared his impressions after the victory over Zorya (3-1)
– Kevin, congratulations on the victory and, to you personally, on the scored goal. Let’s start with a general analysis: what do you think about Shakhtar’s match against Zorya?
– Of course, the game was tough. We had to work really well, in terms of both team and individual actions on the field. I am glad that we managed to convert all our efforts into a good result for the team.
– Despite the fact that Shakhtar won with a 3-1 score, today the Miners also conceded. What do you think was the reason of the conceded goal?
– I guess we lacked concentration in the first half of the meeting a bit, and we paid for it. However, the most important thing is that this moment was an emotional factor for us, which, like a cold shower, brought us back to the role we always want to play on the field – to dominate and be active in attack.
– You have not scored yet in the current season, although there were attempts and chances, so congratulations on the first goal of the season! How important is it for you in terms of confidence?
– Today at lunch we joked that if I score, I will do a backflip. Fortunately, it happened, and I think soon my friends will see me doing a backflip.
– For some reason, we thought that you will do a backflip on the field, but you and Tobias celebrated this goal a little differently. What did your celebration mean?
– Perhaps, it all comes down to us being close friends, spending a lot of time together and living in one hotel room. Probably, on an emotional level, there was a desire to celebrate with a person who is close to me.
– Let’s recall the details of the episode when you scored. Describe this moment, starting with Tobias’ assist.
– First of all, Tobias opened well on the wing, used free space and gave a great splitting pass. And I managed to control the ball, make a one-touch shot and score.
– It is the second time Shakhtar faced Zorya within a short period of time. Is this match different from the October one?
– Overall, we faced the same team again. They had the same advantage as us, because we played recently. It was easier for both us and the opponent to prepare for this meeting, but, as I mentioned, luckily, we took better advantage of our strengths and can celebrate the victory.
