On November 19, Shakhtar played a test match against the first-league side Nyva Ternopil
The starting eleven of the Orange-and-Blacks was as follows: Kiril Fesiun played in goal, Marlon Gomes lined up as a right back, Yehor Nazaryna and Bartol Franjic were fullbacks, Marian Faryna played on the left, Taras Stepanenko, Artem Bondarenko and Pedrinho operated in midfield, Newertton and Eguinaldo appeared as wingers, with Danylo Sikan in the centre-forward role.
The Miners started the match more actively and created the first dangerous chance: Pedrinho found Eguinaldo on the right flank with a nice pass, with the latter almost hitting the far corner. The Pitmen then executed a beautiful passing move in the penalty area, which ended with a sharp cross to the right post – Newertton was centimetres away from finishing it. Sikan did not convert an incredible chance when Newertton lured out the goalkeeper and passed the ball to him in front of an almost empty goal, but Danylo attempted to beat the defenders and failed to score. However, in the 22nd minute, the Brazilian himself took advantage of his opportunity and opened the scoring: Bondarenko sent a through ball from his own half to Newertton on the right flank, who went one-on-one and beat the goalkeeper, making it 1-0. Almost immediately, the Ternopil-based side could have come back when Marlon Gomes gave the ball to Riznyk in the penalty area, but the visitors’ forward missed the far corner. And in the 28th minute, the Orange-and-Blacks doubled their advantage: Newertton delivered from the left corner, Nyva goalkeeper cleared the ball straight to Bartol Franjic who fired it into the net from the goal line – 2-0. Marian Shved, who came on as a substitute for Eguinaldo, could also have scored but hit the opponent's goalkeeper. Pedrinho volleyed from outside the penalty area, but Olkhovyi played effectively, pulling the ball from under the crossbar. Marino Pusic's team scored for the third time in the 39th minute, when Bondarenko delivered a ball, Newertton fed it to the centre of the penalty area and Marian Shved calmly slotted it into the net – 3-0.
During the break, the Miners made a substitution: Kevin appeared instead of Bondarenko. At the beginning of the second half, the Ternopil-based outfit played more boldly and managed to score one goal in the 50th minute: Kozak intercepted Fesiun's pass to his teammate and hit the goal. Shved could have immediately responded with two dangerous attempts from different positions, but both times they were blocked by the Nyva goalkeeper. Towards the middle of the half, the Pitmen’s young defender Anton Drozd entered the field. And in the 62nd minute, the Ternopil team scored for a second time and reduced the gap to a minimum: after another interception in Shakhtar's penalty area, Posievkin struck the ball accurately inside the left post. Franjic was close to his second goal, though he sent the ball from the edge of the box just wide of the post. The rest of the match saw some positional struggle with almost no dangerous chances created. Towards the end of the friendly match, the Orange-and-Blacks had several chances, however the goalkeeper saved Nazaryna's free kick, and Shved's shot flew just past the far corner. The Ternopil-based side scored at the very end of the game: in the 89th minute, they earned a free kick on the left side of the penalty area, and Kozak fired a powerful shot into the near corner. 3-3 – a draw in a test game between Shakhtar and Nyva.
