Dominating in play, but not in score
From the opening minutes, the Miners had the initiative and controlled the ball more in the hosts' half of the field, but the Green-and-Whites created the first real chance, when Hnydiuk shot from close range next to the post. Shakhtar continued to play fluidly around the Brewers' penalty area and earned a promising set piece near the semi-circle. Zaborovets took a direct shot, but Pasko caught the ball. However, the hosts orchestrated a quick counterattack in response and opened the score when Kuksa finished Boreiko's cross from the wing. In the middle of the half, the Miners could have equalized after a powerful shot from Vykaliuk, but Pasko saved the team at the last moment. At the end of the half, the Orange-and-Blacks managed to equalize through the efforts of Kotovets, who won a header and sent the ball into the net, making it 1-1.
Efforts to take the lead
After the break, Shakhtar coaching staff made a double substitution: Starukhina and Myronenko appeared instead of Veherych and Holovach. The girls had barely played 10 minutes when the match was suspended for 22 minutes due to an air raid alert across the country. After the break, the girls returned to the field and, having warmed up, resumed the game. Chaika could have put the Miners in the lead, but her attempt went just wide of the post. Then the pace of the game dropped, and Shakhtar were on the opponents’ half of the field and tried to break through the defence of the Green-and-Whites using the flanks. In the 70th minute, Zaborovets did not take advantage of the clear-cut chance, finishing a pass from Mokhnach, but the goalkeeper made a great save to turn the ball for a corner. Shakhtar made a triple substitution immediately after that, so Zavidova, Liakhovych and Chendei took the field. Towards the end of the match, the Orange-and-Blacks increased the pressure, Zaborovets and Myronenko had excellent opportunities after long-rangers, but the midfielders lacked accuracy. The Green-and-Whites managed to push the ball away from their own goal and orchestrate several promising attacks in added time, but the score remained the same. 1-1 – Shakhtar women’s team tied with Obolon Kyiv.
Roman Zaiev's side will play the next game against Metalist 1925 at the Arsenal Arena on November 9. It kicks off at 11:00, the encounter will be available live on Shakhtar’s official YouTube channel.
