Comment from Shakhtar women’s team head coach Roman Zaiev after the draw with Obolon (1-1)
– How did the match unfold and what did Shakhtar lack to secure a win against Obolon?
– Finishing. We have a young team, experience in the final phase is lacking. In moments where we needed to play with two touches, we rushed, and in situations that could be resolved with one touch, we delayed. These inconsistencies impacted the overall result. However, I liked the dynamics and intensity of the play. The girls were asked to maintain the necessary intensity throughout the match, but the balance in the decisions in the final phase played an important role.
– Can it be considered that Obolon are difficult opponents for Shakhtar?
– As I emphasized, all teams of the Vyshcha League can put up a decent resistance. Everything depends on how the game is structured and how much the key players influence its course. Today we have a good promising team, but it is necessary to gain experience in order to feel confident with any opponent.
– The postponed game against Metalist 1925 will take place in two days. What will the preparation be like and will the girls have time to recover before the match?
– We built our preparation around the postponed meeting with Metalist 1925. If the game against Obolon had been the final one in the first stage of the Vyshcha League, perhaps there wouldn't have been such rotation as there is now. We used rotation so that the performers of the main squad had more time to recover.
