Shakhtar U19 hosted LNZ U19 in the 9th round of the Youth League at the Arsenal-Arena

The coaching staff of Shakhtar U19 chose the following starting line-up: Kravets played in the goal, Strilchuk and Reshetnikov appeared on the defensive wings, Harabazhii and Bashmarin acted in the centre of defence, Kostrytsia, Tiutiunov and Tsukanov played in the midfield, Petruk and Yushchenko acted as wingers, Lomaha had a central forward position.

Active start with goals by Yushchenko and Lomaha

The Miners started to attack the goal of the visiting team from the first minutes and should have opened the scoring already in the 4th minute: Stankovych, losing position in the penalty area, went to the tackle and knocked down Yushchenko, for which the referee awarded the spot-kick – Moskovchenko saved the shot, and Lomaha’s kick in a second wave attack hit the post. The Pitmen continued to combine and finally succeeded in the 13th minute when Reshetnikov found Lomaha with an excellent pass, the latter opened the scoring with a volley. The Orange-and-Blacks did not take long to double the advantage: Yushchenko launched an attack on the right wing and scored a goal after playing with Tiutiunov and Lomaha. Tsukanov threatened the goal of Moskovchenko with a set-piece shot in the next episode – off target. After the 25th minute, the visiting team managed to move the game away from their goal and organised several promising attacks with final shots by Kalchuk (post) and Khamko – Kravets blocked the ball. In the 39th minute, the coaching staff of Shakhtar U19 made a double substitution: Dankovskyi and Davydenko appeared on the field instead of Bashmarin and Kostrytsia, who were injured. Towards the end of the half, the Miners could have widened the lead while controlling the ball in the opponent’s part of the field, but Yushchenko’s shot hit the goalkeeper, and Petruk did not have time to react to Tsukanov’s cross.

Playing as leaders

During the break, Shakhtar U19 made a double substitution, and Sheleketa and Slipchuk entered the field. The pattern of play did not change, and the Pitmen quickly converted their opportunities into the scored goal: Yushchenko successfully moved from the wing and, being guarded by two opponents, hit the right corner of the goal. The opponents immediately responded with a dangerous shot by Lych – in centimetres from the post. The Miners continued to have the initiative and acted more dangerously in the last third of the field. In the 57th minute, Shtefanko knocked down Tsukanov in the penalty area, the referee awarded a spot-kick, and Viktor coolly converted it. In the 68th minute, the coaching staff of Shakhtar U19 strengthened the attacking wings with substitutions: Zheliba and Shakun appeared on the field. The Orange-and-Blacks did not slow down and continued to attack. In the 71st minute, Slipchuk shot from outside the penalty area (over the target), and later Shakun did not take a great opportunity, when he tried to turn Sheleketa’s direct wing cross home with a header (over the crossbar). In the final minutes, LNZ U19 tried to score a consolation goal, however, the responsible defence of the Pitmen kept a clean sheet.

4-0 – Shakhtar U19 confidently defeated LNZ U19 at home. Oleksii Bielik’s team will play their next game of the Youth League after the international break against Kolos U19 on October 17. The meeting in Kovalivka will kick off at 13:00.
