Shakhtar women’s team hosted Vorskla Poltava on the Vyshcha League second stage MD 5 in Shchaslyve

The coaching staff of the Orange-and-Blacks chose the following starting line-up for the game against Vorskla: Ustinova played in the goal, Kravchuk, Henyk, Mostova and Shevtsova formed the defensive line, Starukhina, Zaborovets and Myronenko acted in midfield, Vykaliuk and Holovach appeared on the attacking wings, with Chaika playing in the central forward position..

Vorskla’s active start

The Poltava team started the meeting actively and took the lead in the 7th minute: Kravchuk broke free on the right wing, went into a shooting position and hit the far corner. A minute later, the Miners organised a wonderful attack that could have ended in a goal, but Vykaliuk, who went one-on-one with Herasymchuk, lacked accuracy. Vorskla acted sharper with the ball and, having a territorial advantage, constantly threatened Ustinova’s goal, while the Orange-and-Blacks focused on playing defensively. In the 22nd minute, after another wing attack, Osipyan had a great chance to double the advantage of the visiting team when she won in the air and directed the ball under the crossbar, but Ustinova saved the team again. Vorskla continued to combine and was able to convert another opportunity at the end of the first half – Kalinina kicked the ball into the corner of the goal with a light touch within the penalty area.

Defensive play

After the break, Shakhtar’s coaching staff refreshed the left defensive wing: Lutsan replaced Kravchuk on the field. The pattern of play did not change significantly, the Poltava team continued to hold the initiative. Already in the 47th minute, Kravchuk found herself one-on-one with Ustinova, but the goalkeeper reduced the angle of attack in time and saved the team. Vorskla were particularly active on the left flank, where the duo of Radionova and Kalinina constantly created opportunities for their teammates. Finally, in the 51st minute, Kalinina netted a brace after an exemplary attack. After that, the Miners managed to push the game away from their own goal and launched a productive attack in response: Vykaliuk quickly beat her opponents after receiving a splitting pass and converted a one-on-one situation with Herasymchuk. Immediately after the goal, Shakhtar’s coaching staff made a triple substitution, Liakhovych, Sikorska and Zavidova entered the field. Closer to the final whistle, the game turned into a positional struggle with a large number of fouls. The visiting team looked sharper, but the score remained unchanged.
