Shakhtar forward Eguinaldo shared his impressions from the Ukrainian Clasico
– Eguinaldo, how painful is this draw for Shakhtar today? How are you feeling right now?
– A tough result to accept. We were winning 2-0, so it is always difficult when you let go of such games. If we only evaluate the result, it is certainly negative for us, because we always focus only on victory. We fought until the end of the match, but unfortunately something was missing, and that is why we cannot make the fans happy with a victory today. But it is important to keep our heads held high and keep working.
– Can we say that Shakhtar did not deserve a draw today?
– If we analyse how the match went, especially in the first half, then Shakhtar really probably did not deserve such a result. But today’s final result was due to a combination of mistakes, so to speak. We played well in all other aspects but did not manage to maintain the necessary concentration.
– You earned a penalty and scored a goal. Considering that Shakhtar played against a major opponent, what “taste” do such effective actions leave for you?
– Of course, it is nice to score, especially in such a classic confrontation, but I would be even more happy for the team and the victory, which we unfortunately failed to get today. We will continue to work on winning another trophy, which we are still aiming for – I mean the final match of the Ukrainian Cup. Of course, I am glad that I managed to score and earn an important penalty – it definitely gives me more confidence. We will continue to fight.
– What response should we expect from Shakhtar in the Ukrainian Cup final?
– Of course, we will prepare even better, appear with even more energy, and do everything in our power to leave the field as the winners of the Ukrainian Cup.
