We have no right to underestimate our opponents, so we are aiming for a positive result only
Yaroslav Mylokost, defender:
– We are in good form, approaching the match against LNZ U19 with a competitive spirit despite the limited time for preparation. We managed to win and secure important points in the two previous, extremely tough matches, which boosted our confidence after the challenging start to the second stage of the championship. We are aware that LNZ U19 are currently at the bottom of the standings, but we have no right to underestimate our opponents, so we are aiming for a positive result only.
Opponents
After 23 rounds played, LNZ U19 sit near the bottom of the table with 12 points (3 wins, 3 draws and 17 losses). At the same time, it is worth noting that the Cherkasy-based side demonstrated some progress in the spring part of the season: they earned more points than in the first stage, defeating Chornomorets U19 (3-0) and Vorskla U19 (1-0), as well as tying with Kolos U19 (2-2). It is interesting that LNZ U19’s defensive line is currently the most vulnerable – 81 goals conceded. In addition, the last home victory dates back to the end of September.
Match background
The Miners came out on top in all three previous Youth League encounters between Shakhtar U19 and LNZ U19.
Previous meeting
On March 6, 2024, the teams locked horns in Shchaslyve. The Miners actively attacked the visitors' goal from the first minutes and opened the scoring in the 13th minute, as Lomaha finished off a move with a volley. Soon the Orange-Blacks doubled their advantage: Yushchenko orchestrated an attack down the right flank and, after playing a one-two with Tiutiunov and Lomaha, scored a goal. In the second half, the Pitmen maintained control of the game and confidently converted their chances, with goals from Yushchenko and Tsukanov, with the latter scoring from the penalty spot. In the final minutes, LNZ U19 tried to score a consolation goal, but the well-coordinated defence of Shakhtar U19 kept a clean sheet. As a result, the referee’s final whistle recorded a convincing 4-0 win for the Miners.
