Shakhtar faced Veres away on the UPL MD 3
Head coach of the Orange-and-Blacks Arda Turan fielded the following starting line-up: Riznyk took his place between the sticks, Konoplia and Pedro Henrique appeared as full-backs, Matviienko and Bondar operated in central defence, Ocheretko, Bondarenko and Sudakov played in midfield, while the attacking trio consisted of Alisson, Newertton and Pedrinho. It is worth noting that Shakhtar newcomer Lucas Ferreira was included in the match squad.

The teams started the match at a high tempo, showing good ball movement, but it was mainly the Miners who were on the attack.
