Shakhtar newcomer Isaque Silva reflects on his emotions after the transfer, reasons for joining, his strengths and ambitions at the club
– Isaque, from today you are officially a Shakhtar player. What emotions are you feeling and what does this transfer mean to you?
– First of all, I thank God for making this dream come true. It has been my dream since childhood to wear the Shakhtar jersey. I hope to give my all this season. I thank my family and my agents who helped me join such a big club.
– How did you find out that Shakhtar had an interest in you? What was your reaction? What, in fact, became the key factor in your decision to join the Ukrainian team?
– Everything happened very quickly and unexpectedly. I learned about the interest from my agents, who told me about Shakhtar. I agreed because of the scale of the club and its ambitious project. Of course, playing for Shakhtar was my dream, so I’m happy to wear this club’s jersey and, as I said, I will give my all for the team.
– Shakhtar is truly a club with a great history. What exactly did you know about the team? And were there any Brazilian former Shakhtar players who inspired you?
– Yes! I know Douglas Costa, with whom I played at Fluminense, as well as Dentinho and others. I’ve been following the club since childhood, so I’m very happy and grateful that I can now be part of Shakhtar and wear this jersey.
– Tell our fans a bit about yourself, what are your strengths and key qualities on the pitch?
– I’m an intelligent player who thinks a lot about the game. I have a good pass, I can finish attacks, I have dribbling skills and I’m quick. I hope to show these qualities already in my debut and help Shakhtar as much as possible.
– Have you chosen your squad number and why did you pick it?
– Of course! It’s 14. The reason is that my agent talked to me about it: when he played, he wore number 14. It’s also my younger brother’s birthday, so I think this number suits me well. I’m glad I chose it.
– You are well acquainted with one of Shakhtar’s current players. We’re talking about Elias. Tell us about your friendship and what you two talked about before your official move to the club.
– Kaua and I talked a lot even before I arrived. He was one of the reasons that influenced my decision, telling me about the club and many other things. Playing with Kaua again here is a great joy. He is my friend and brother, someone I have played with since childhood. To play alongside him at Shakhtar, such a big club, is another dream come true. I’m very happy and I hope to play well with him and help the club.
– In conclusion: what are your goals, dreams and objectives at Shakhtar?
– To make history, win titles, play in the Champions League, score goals, provide assists and leave my mark at Shakhtar.
