Shakhtar women’s team will face Pantery in the opening match of the new Vyshcha League season in Uman

August 3, Uman, Central Stadium, 11:00

Match build-up

Over the past month, Shakhtar Women players have been preparing intensively for the season, holding training camps at the Academy facility in Shchaslyve. The training process was divided into two phases: first, the team focused on building general endurance, and then gradually shifted to ball work with increasing load. The Orange-and-Blacks also played two friendlies, defeating the Free Agents XI (6-0) and losing to Seasters (0-3).

During the summer pre-season spell, Lidiia Zaborovets and Inha Mostova left the team, while Kateryna Kuksa, Nina Pipchenko and Yeva Balatska joined the squad.

Opponents

Pantery Uman finished last season in 8th spot in the league table with 22 points. The team led by Yurii Deryniuk trained at their club base with a two-a-day session format ahead of the new campaign. During pre-season, Pantery played friendlies against Kryvbas (1-4), Kolos (0-2, 1-4) and EMS-Podillia (3-2).

Several experienced players left the squad during the pre-season, with Yana Shchur, Veronika Gudzyk and Kemilly Silva dos Santos joining as replacements.

Match background

The sides have met four times in the Vyshcha League, with all four matches ending in victories for the Miners (goal difference: 28-1).

Previous meeting

On October 9, 2024, Shakhtar hosted Pantery at the Arsenal Arena. The match began with chances at both ends, but Vykaliuk and Bilokur were unable to convert. Then, the Miners orchestrated a rapid attack, which Mokhnach finished with precision. Soon after, the Miners took the initiative, and in the 12th minute, Vykaliuk confidently converted a penalty. The hosts switched their formation and continued to dominate possession. Early on, Chaika scored following a low cross from Mokhnach, and towards the end of the match, Shakhtar claimed a crushing victory: Vykaliuk completed her brace, with additional goals coming from Zavidova and Holovach. A confident 6-0 victory for Shakhtar.
