Shakhtar women’s team faced Uman-based Pantery away in the opening match of the new Vyshcha League season
Head coach Roman Zaiev named the following starting line-up: Ustinova was in goal, Henyk and Kravchuk played in central defence, Zavidova and Sikorska appeared at full-back, Kuksa, Myronenko and Veherych formed the midfield, Vykaliuk and Holovach operated on the wings, with Chaika leading the line as the centre-forward.
Control and goal exchange
Shakhtar footballers made a lively start and took the lead in the 7th minute: Myronenko delivered a diagonal ball from the central area to Holovach, who handled it well, broke through one-on-one with the goalkeeper and slotted it into the bottom corner. The Miners had the initiative and controlled the ball in the opposition half, quickly closing down spaces when out of possession. It didn’t take long to double the lead – once again following a long ball from deep. Henyk split Pantery’s defence with a precise pass to send Chaika through one-on-one with Hudzyk, and the forward calmly converted the chance. For a moment, the hosts regained the initiative and began to apply pressure on Ustinova’s goal, managing to pull one back through a penalty converted by Bilokur. The match then shifted into a phase of positional play with promising attacks at both ends, but no further goals were scored.
A game focused on holding the lead
The second half began with a stunning free-kick effort from Rybalkina from around 40 metres out, but the ball struck the crossbar. The hosts showed more intent as they pushed hard to level the score, but Shakhtar’s defenders stayed well-organised and kept the opposition away from any real threat to Ustinova’s goal. Pantery maintained possession and tried to break into the final third, but their main danger came from set pieces: first, Bilokur curled a shot just wide of the far post, and then Shchur’s close-range effort from a corner was blocked by Veherych. In the 62nd minute, the coaching staff of the Orange-and-Blacks made a defensive substitution, with Maslovska replacing Zavidova. The Miners gradually regained the initiative and managed to extend their lead through a quick counter-attack finished confidently by Chaika. The closing minutes were played mostly in Shakhtar’s half, but without any real danger for Ustinova’s goal.
3-1 – Shakhtar women’s team begin the new Vyshcha League season with a win over Pantery. The Miners will face Kolos Kovalivka in the next round at the Arsenal Arena on August 10.
