Shakhtar women’s team are preparing for the first home game of the season against Kolos
On Friday, August 8, Shakhtar women’s team held a training session at the Academy facility in Shchaslyve with an emphasis on their preparations for the clash with Kolos.
The session traditionally began with running drills and a light warm-up, after which the players moved on to ball exercises, focusing on passing and the accuracy of the final shot. Towards the end, the coaching staff organised a small-sided game with various tactical instructions, followed by shooting practice.
Nadiia Chaika, forward:
– We are approaching the match against Kolos in great spirits, and it’s good that we managed to win in the opening round. The training session was intense, with a focus on attacking play and practicing technical skills.
– You scored twice in the first match of the season. How did that affect your confidence and what goals have you set for yourself for the new season?
– I play as a forward, so I always have to score. It’s good that I’ve adapted better now, I know which positions to take and feel my teammates perfectly. Of course, confidence grows when you manage to score and I hope that continues. But the team’s overall result comes first. I hope we can compete for the top spots.
– The match against Kolos is coming up. Share your thoughts on the upcoming encounter.
– During the summer break, our opponents’ squad underwent changes: many key players left the team and they were replaced by younger players. We expect an exciting and intense game with plenty of challenges.
– The Vyshcha League will be held in a new format this season. How do you assess the changes?
– It’s an interesting idea to create three leagues and it’s clear that Shakhtar aim to play in the strongest one. Obviously, the intention is to group teams by level and this will have a positive impact on competition.
