Shakhtar youth team entertained their Epicentr counterparts in the final match of the year in Shchaslyve
The manager of the Orange-and-Blacks fielded the following starting line-up: Chympoiesh was in goal, Reshetnikov and Strilchuk operated as fullbacks, Kostiuk and Harabazhii formed a pair of central defenders, Bundash, Tiutiunov and Tsukanov appeared in midfield, Zubrii and Petruk took the attacking wings, with Kanteh leading the line as centre-forward.
An active start with Tsukanov’s goal
The Orange-and-Blacks took control of the ball from the opening minutes, combined well and applied pressure on Lykhvar’s goal. The first dangerous chance came after a quick flank attack, followed by a transition into the central area and a final shot from Strilchuk, but the goalkeeper reacted with a diving save. Soon after, Petruk could have put the Miners ahead following a series of shots: in the first episode, Epicentr U19 were saved by their goalkeeper, while the second-phase effort after the rebound sailed over the target. Eventually, in the 14th minute, the hosts managed to open the scoring – Tsukanov found the net with an accurate long-ranger. A meaningful response from Epicentr U19 to the conceded goal came in the 19th minute, when Henhalo burst into the penalty area from the flank and struck the ball, sending it just wide of the post. Mykola Ishchenko’s side mostly operated compactly in a low block, which made it quite difficult for the Miners to find free spaces. At the same time, the Orange-and-Blacks controlled the tempo of the game and tried to stretch the dense defence through the flanks before sharpening attacks in the central zone. In the 36th minute, the Pitmen put together a textbook move: Reshetnikov delivered a precise diagonal pass to Zubrii, who handled the ball neatly, broke free from his marker and struck towards the near post – once again, the goalkeeper came to the rescue. Before the end of the first half, Kanteh, Petruk and Reshetnikov had potentially dangerous opportunities, but they were unable to double the lead.
Spectacular game and high scoring
The second half began with an exchange of swift goal-bound attacks: first, Mysko sprinted from his own half, skipped past opponents and reached a shooting position, firing towards the near post – Chympoiesh closed down the angle in time and parried the effort. In response, Lykhvar’s goal was threatened by Kanteh after a similar attack: he managed to round the goalkeeper, but Zhylynskyi provided timely cover. Epicentr U19 tried to press forward, but they left plenty of space at the back in building their attacks and eventually the following minutes proved successful for the Orange-and-Blacks: attacks finished with goals from Kanteh and Zubrii made the score crushing. In the 59th minute, Shakhtar U19 head coach Oleksii Bielik made a double substitution, with Onishchuk and Smetana coming on for Harabazhii and Zubrii. After that, the tempo of the game eased slightly, as the Miners controlled possession in the opponents’ half and continued to confidently dictate the course of the match. Soon, the Pitmen wore their opponents down, made use of the space and managed to extend the lead with accurate shots from Smetana and Chornenkyi, and despite the commanding advantage, they kept producing high-tempo combinations. Tsukanov sealed the win by completing his brace.
6-0 – Shakhtar’s youth team convincingly defeated Epicentr U19, finishing the year as the sole leaders of the championship with 42 points, while centre-forward Muhamadou Kanteh continues to lead the scoring race with 19 goals in 15 matches.
