We invite fans to decide on the best and most important goal of the Miners of the past 12 months

Shakhtar present the traditional pre-New Year Goal Battle project. Fans are offered 16 of the most spectacular and important goals scored over the year. The selection features goals from the men’s and women’s teams, as well as players from the club’s Academy.

Project format

Videos of the 16 goals, paired up, will be posted 2 at a time on the Miners’ official Instagram page, and fans will choose the best one by writing the scorer’s surname in the comments. The winner of the year will be determined on December 31 following the final vote.

Project history

Goal Battle was launched in 2018, with fans naming Viktor Kovalenko’s lightning strike against Dynamo as the first winner. It was followed by Taras Stepanenko’s thunderous effort in the Ukrainian Clasico. Over the next two years, the honours went to goals by Alan Patrick: in 2020, the Brazilian spectacularly volleyed against Benfica in the UEFA Europa League, and in 2021, he did so again, stylishly placing the ball into the top corner of Dynamo’s goal. The next winner was Mykhailo Mudryk’s goal in the UEFA Champions League match against Celtic, and a year later attention fell on Yaroslav Rakitskyi’s acrobatic goal scored with his back in the UEFA Europa League clash with Feyenoord. The 2024 Goal Battle triumph went to an incredible bicycle kick by young Academy player Oleksandr Chornenkyi.

You can find all contenders for victory according to the results of 2025 on Shakhtar's official Instagram page.
