Shakhtar faced Ateks in the second round of the friendly tournament dedicated to the memory of Viktoriia Chornovil
Shakhtar coaching staff decided to play short-handed in the first meeting of the day to improve player interaction, so the starting line-up was as follows: Karban took place between the sticks, Pipchenko, Shevtsova, Lutsan and Kotovets played as defenders, Maslovska, Zaborovets and Liakhovych appeared in midfield, with Zavidova and Chendei leading the attack.
They played 2 halves of 35 minutes each.
Zavidova’s performance and control
The opening minutes of the encounter were evenly matched, but without dangerous chances near the opponents' goal. However, closer to the middle of the half, the Miners began to control the ball more often and played fluidly near the opposing penalty area. Zavidova was especially active, escalating on the flanks eventually scoring in the 16th minute with a precise shot. It took very little time for Yuliana to secure a brace: the winger dribbled down the right flank, moved into midfield, found an advantageous position and increased Shakhtar's advantage. The Miners continued to have a territorial advantage and made the score crushing at the end of the half: Zavidova broke free, moved into a shooting position and shot, making it 3-0.
Domination of the Miners
The opponents started the second half at high speed, playing open football with numerous scoring opportunities, which Shakhtar players took full advantage of. The Orange-and-Blacks responded to Liulenko's dangerous attempt under the post by hitting the crossbar and an unsuccessful one-on-one situation from Chendei. Despite playing short-handed, Roman Zaiev's side continued to dominate and did not start playing defensively, but, on the contrary, continued to put pressure on the hosts’ goal. Thus, in the 41st minute, Zavidova scored again, making it 4-0. In the next attack, Ateks reduced the gap through Taraba's efforts, but a minute later they conceded again when Liakhovych successfully finished – 5-1. Then the Orange-and-Blacks completely controlled the game and converted the subsequent created chances through precise shots from Zaborovets, Zavidova, Chendei and Liakhovych, claiming a crushing 9-1 victory.
