On February 9, Shakhtar played the test match against Moldovan Zimbru
Head coach of the Orange-and-Blacks Marino Pusic chose the following line-up for this friendly game: Riznyk played in the goal, Vinicius Tobias and Pedro Henrique appeared on the defensive wings, Bondar and Matviienko played in the centre of defence, Kryskiv, Marlon Gomes and Sudakov acted in the middle of the field, Shved and Kevin were the wingers, and Pedrinho had the central forward position.
Game advantage with Kevin’s goal
The teams started the match toe-to-toe, and in the opening minutes they held the initiative in turns. The first moment was created by the Miners already in the beginning: during a quick attack Kevin went to a shooting position but missed the target from the semi-circle. The opponents responded with their own sharp attack: Riznyk saved a shot into the near corner with his foot, and two consecutive dangerous long-range shots from Chisinau-based side went close to the right post. But Marino Pusic’s team gradually took full control over the game, and the champions of Ukraine opened the scoring in the 23rd minute: Shved fought for the ball in the centre of the field, Pedrinho launched the counterattack and passed to Kevin in the penalty area, the latter easily beat the goalkeeper – 1-0. A few minutes later, the Pitmen could have doubled their advantage when Matviienko put Shved in one on one with a cool splitting pass, but the goalkeeper of Zimbru saved Marian’s shot. At the end of the half, after a beautiful combination of Marlon Gomes and Kryskiv, Pedrinho had a chance to score, but his low-driven shot went in centimetres from the far post.
Exploiting success thanks to the goals from Bondarenko and Shved
During the break, Shakhtar's coaching staff applied extensive rotation and changed almost the entire line-up. The second half began with a penalty against the Ukrainians, which the referee awarded after Bondarenko’s foul, but Kyrylo Fesiun read Dahan’s shot and caught the ball in the right corner, after which he also saved the opponent’s follow-up. Shortly after that, the Orange-and-Blacks got a similar chance: in the 60th minute, Anton Hlushchenko earned a penalty, which Artem Bondarenko confidently converted, sending the ball and the goalkeeper wrong way – 2-0. After that, the Chisinau-based team played a little more actively, making several good attempts to approach the goal of the Miners, but they did not manage to create a particular danger. Towards the end of the game, the Pitmen carried out the attack, and after several attempts they managed to secure the crushing score. In the 86th minute, Nazaryna dispossessed the opponent of the ball and passed it to Marian Shved, who shot from the right edge of the penalty area, and the ball bounced into the net.
3-0 – Shakhtar defeated Zimbru in the fourth friendly of the winter training camp. Tomorrow, the Miners will have a day off, and after that, Marino Pusic’s team will continue their preparation for the second part of the season.
