On January 15, Shakhtar played a test match against Bulgarian champions Ludogorets
Today, the Miners already played one friendly match, defeating CSKA Sofia (1-0). Head coach of the Orange-and-Blacks Marino Pusic, as was predicted, completely changed the line-up for the second friendly game of the day: Riznyk played in the goal, Vinicius Tobias and Azarov acted on the defensive wings, Bondar and Matviienko played in the centre of defence, Kryskiv, Marlon Gomes and Sudakov acted in the middle of the field, Pedrinho and Kevin were the wingers, and Eguinaldo had a central forward position.
Dominance of the Pitmen with the goals by Marlon Gomes and Kevin
The teams started the meeting at high speed, the game was interesting and intense from the opening minutes. The first sharp moment was created by the Bulgarians already in the opening stages: Piotrowski made a powerful shot from outside the penalty area into the near corner – Riznyk turned the ball to the post, from which it flew to the corner. The Pitmen responded with a quick wing attack, which ended with Kevin’s cross to the goal-area line, but Eguinaldo’s header missed the target. And in the 17th minute, Shakhtar opened the scoring: Sudakov made a cross from the left corner, Kevin headed the ball to the far post, and Marlon Gomes turned his cross right home with a one-touch shot – 1-0. The Pitmen continued to act as leaders and systematically put pressure on the defence of the Bulgarian champion, and in the end it led to the result: in the 27th minute, Azarov passed to Sudakov, who found Pedrinho in the centre of the penalty area with a splitting pass, the Brazilian threw the ball to Kevin, who completed a beautiful combination with an accurate shot – 2-0. The game slowed down for some time, and before the break, the Razgrad-based team had their chance, when after a corner kick Almeida aimed at the goal of the Orange-and-Blacks with a header from a close distance, but Riznyk reacted and cleared the ball on the line.
Eguinaldo and Pedrinho secured a crushing result
After the break, Ludogorets players tried to seize the initiative and level the game, launching several promising attacks at the start of the second half, but the only real danger was the moment of Rwan Cruz, who missed the target from the centre of the penalty area. And Marino Pusic's team took advantage of their opportunity and increased the score in the 64th minute: Azarov sent a through ball to Kevin on the left flank, he beat the goalkeeper and shot across the goal from the face, and Eguinaldo sent the ball into the net from one metre – 3-0. Pedrinho and Kryskiv had opportunities to continue the thrashing – both times the goalkeeper saved the Razgrad-based team. The Bulgarians also did not stop trying to score at least a consolation goal, but clear and reliable defensive actions of the Ukrainians kept Riznyk’s goal “dry”. And the Orange-and-Blacks set the final result in the 88th minute: Pedrinho completed the combination of Eguinaldo and Kryskiv with a shot from outside the penalty area – the ball flew into the near corner from Bonmann’s hands.
4-0 – Shakhtar confidently defeated Ludogorets in the friendly match between the champions of Ukraine and Bulgaria.
Next, Marino Pusic’s team will continue to purposefully prepare for two final matches of the UEFA Champions League league phase: against Brest (January 22) and Borussia Dortmund (January 29).
