Shakhtar women’s team midfielder Lidiia Zaborovets shared her emotions after winning the Women’s Player of the Year 2024 award vote
– Lidiia, the fans chose you as the Women’s Player of the Year 2024 in Shakhtar. What does this mean to you?
– It is definitely nice to receive such awards, especially when the fans call you the best player of the year for the second time in a row. This recognition adds motivation to work even harder to make our fans happy.
– You became the first female player in Shakhtar who won this title twice in a row. What did you feel when you found out about your win?
– Actually, it is very nice, because I managed to be the first in the history of the team to receive this award twice in a row. But this is not a reason to stop there, on the contrary, I have to work even harder.
– Is there someone whom you would like to dedicate this victory to?
– First of all, I want to thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine, because without them we would not have the opportunity to hold competitions, play sports and win awards. I also thank my loved ones and fans who supported Shakhtar.
– What event of the past year is the most memorable and important for you?
– Overall, the year did not turn out exactly like we wanted, but we continue to work and move towards our goal. As for the event, I think it is getting out of the group with the Ukraine U19 women's national team.
– What are your tasks for 2025? What would you like to achieve both individually and with Shakhtar?
– I always set only the highest goals for myself, both individually and for the team. Of course, we will strive to achieve the best results and show a quality game.
