Head coach of Shakhtar youth team Oleksii Bielik talked about the work at the training camp in Turkey, the requirements for players and the upcoming plans
– Shakhtar U19 continue the winter training camp. Tell us how the team's preparation process is organised and share your impressions of today’s friendly game.
– So far, things are going very well, we have done a significant amount of work. Some players participate in the training camp for the first time, so it is their first experience with such heavy workloads and more running work than in U17 or U16 teams. But the guys are great: they did everything we suggested. This is normal, because they are making progress. Today we played against a good opponent, just like yesterday when we competed with an aggressive and athletically tough team. The players deal well with the workloads, although not everything works out yet. This is normal too, because we have not really practised attacking actions yet, so there is a bit of a lack of interaction during attack. In the end, the scope of work we have already done will become the foundation. From next week, we will work more intensively and perform tasks that will improve our actions both in attack and defence.
– What are the main requirements for the players during such training camps?
– The only requirement is to do what we offer to the players in a good mood. I emphasise that the mood may not always be positive, but if there is no mood, the footballer should not interfere with his teammate, because tomorrow the situation may change. We are one team, we work together and pursue our goal. I am very satisfied with how the first week of the training camp went.
– What is the team’s plan for the future?
– Next week we will work on the physical condition of players and pay more attention to attacking actions, remembering what happened at the first stage. Also, during the week we will focus on the opponent in the UEFA Youth League, holding more theory sessions, during which we will study the strengths and weaknesses of Hoffenheim U19. Simultaneously we will try to practise the material on the pitch so that it gives the necessary result in the future match.
