Shakhtar U17 midfielder and Goal Battle winner Oleksandr Chornenkyi reflects on fan recognition, the award and goals for the future
– Oleksandr, fans named your goal the best in the traditional New Year's 2024 Goal Battle project. How important is this award for you?
– It is very nice that fans recognized my goal as the best at Shakhtar. It gives inspiration, confidence and makes you move forward. The award is, of course, very important for me because it was not easy to receive it.
– Did you expect your goal to be named the best of 2024? What can you say about the level of competition this year?
– I actually believed, but was not sure, that the goal I scored in 2024 would be the most beautiful at Shakhtar. I would like to thank fans for their support and I want to emphasize that the level of competition this year was extremely high.
– Can we consider this goal the best in your career?
– Yes, it is definitely the most beautiful goal of my career.
– How did you feel when you found out that you had won the 2024 Goal Battle? Who was the first to congratulate you?
– I felt incredible joy, it was very nice. The first to congratulate me were the team, coaches and parents.
– Together with Shakhtar U16, you won the 2024 DUFLU championship. Tell us how the past year was for you in general and what goals do you set for the future?
– We really put a lot of effort into winning the championship, and the whole team are really good. I would like to thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine in particular because without them we would not have had the opportunity to participate in the competitions. As for the future, of course, I set myself only the highest goals, both personally and teamwise.
– What would you like to wish Shakhtar fans in the new year?
– Most importantly, peaceful sky and health. And I also invite you to our matches in 2025!
