A beautiful and triumphant journey of almost a decade and a half comes to an end
Shakhtar midfielder and captain Taras Stepanenko concludes his time with the Pitmen
Taras Stepanenko's story at Shakhtar began in May 2010, when he signed his first contract with the Miners. He made his debut for the team in July in the winning match of the Ukrainian Super Cup against Tavriia (7-1). This was followed by 15 seasons in the Orange-and-Blacks’ jersey, 439 appearances in official tournaments (288 in the UPL, 76 in the Champions League, 29 in the Europa League, 35 in the Ukrainian Cup, 11 in the Ukrainian Super Cup), 30 goals and 25 assists. Taras led the team onto the field with the captain's armband in over 100 games. Stepanenko won 25 trophies together with Shakhtar: he became a 10-time Ukrainian champion, claimed 8 Ukrainian Cups and 7 Ukrainian Super Cups
