Shakhtar Social and The Sir Bobby Charlton Foundation continue their partnership

Shakhtar Social (Ukraine) and The Sir Bobby Charlton Foundation (UK) are continuing their joint project United Together, aimed at supporting children through football and psychological assistance.

The project was launched in spring 2024 in Zaporizhzhia, Lozova (Kharkiv Oblast) and Shakhtarske (Dnipropetrovsk oblast). Over the course of the year, participants regularly played football, took part in tournaments and events, as well as attended sessions with a psychologist that helped reduce stress and anxiety levels.

Mykyta, project participant:

– I’ve been part of this project for six months now. The coach constantly motivates us, gives us tips and explains tactics, and we carry out the exercises he suggests. During the sessions, I have made lots of friends, and we have a great time together.

The positive results from the first year confirmed the importance of the initiative for children, which is why it continues. In the new phase, the psychological support programme will include art therapy, while regular football training will continue in all three cities.

Andrii, project coach:

– Children have the opportunity to take a break and develop both spiritually and physically in these difficult times. We are grateful for this chance and for such an important project!

Additionally, foosball tables will be purchased and sent to other regions of Ukraine as part of the initiative. They plan to install them in shelters where children stay during air raid alerts to create a friendlier and more supportive environment there.

We are confident that continuing this partnership will be an important step in caring for children growing up amid uncertainty and challenges.
