Shakhtar youth team continue their preparations for the new season, supplementing the training process with friendly matches
Shakhtar U19 are actively preparing for the new season with twice-daily training sessions at the Academy facility in Shchaslyve, complemented by a packed schedule of friendlies. The Orange-and-Blacks have already laid the foundation of aerobic endurance and are focusing this week on developing speed and strength qualities. On the tactical side, the team are working on building out from the back and improving their attacking play.
Last week, the Pitmen played friendlies against Obolon Kyiv U19 and Polissia-2, facing First League team UCSA and amateur club FC Lubny this week. During the matches, the coaching staff made full use of squad rotation to ensure as many players as possible received appropriate load.
Shakhtar Donetsk U19 2-1 Obolon Kyiv U19
The first half of the match ended goalless, but after the substitutions, the course of the game changed. Obolon were the first to open the scoring, yet closer to the end of the match, the Miners managed to secure victory through Tverdokhlib’s decisive goals.

The Zhytomyr-based side took the lead early in the game. Closer to the end of the first half, both sides engaged in a real shootout: Lomaha’s goal brought the score level, but the Wolves quickly responded with another shot. However, Smetana scored just before the break. The second half didn’t produce many goals, but the Orange-and-Blacks managed to take the lead through another decisive moment from Lomaha, who completed his brace.
