Over 180 children from different regions of Ukraine have joined football training sessions as part of the Pace for Health project

Shakhtar Social, within the Pace for Health project supported by the European Commission, has launched football training sessions for Ukrainian children. The sessions have started in five locations: Rivne, Zhytomyr, Uman (Cherkasy Oblast), Pivdenne (Odesa Oblast) and Krasnopavlivka (Kharkiv Oblast).

Boys and girls aged 7 to 12 take part in the training. At this stage, more than 180 children are already involved, most of whom are internally displaced persons. They will also undergo testing to assess their psycho-emotional state, as well as their physical and technical readiness.

The testing results will be used to develop a practical guidebook with recommendations on how to run effective football sessions for IDPs in Ukraine. The guide will provide coaches, educators and community leaders with information on inclusive coaching practices and approaches that take into account trauma experiences and psychosocial support strategies.

At the end of the project, two summer camps will be organised in Italy and Greece for over 60 internally displaced children.
