Shakhtar women's team hosted Seasters in their second pre-season friendly in Shchaslyve
The coaching staff of the Orange-and-Blacks rotated the line-up following the friendly against the Free Agents XI: Ustinova started in goal, Balatska and Henyk played as centre-backs, Zavidova and Sikorska operated in the full-back positions, Veherych, Maslovska and Chaika formed the midfield, Liakhovych and Chendei appeared on the wings, with Vykaliuk leading the line.
Defensive play and a goal conceded from the spot
The visitors set a high tempo from the off and looked to reach Ustinova’s goal, mainly attacking down the flanks, while the Miners played on the counter and denied their opponents any chances. Still, Seasters eventually managed to break through the compact defence and set up a shooting opportunity for Colmenares – Ustinova responded with a solid save. Shakhtar attempted to counterattack after interceptions, but the opposition midfield quickly shut those moves down and didn’t allow them to get anywhere near Klimova’s goal. In the end, the Odesa side converted their initiative in the game in the 30th minute, when Ngandi scored from the penalty spot after a handball in the box – 0-1. Towards the end of the first half, the Orange-and-Blacks came close to equalize, as Vykaliuk broke through one-on-one with the keeper – Klimova reacted quickly, closed the angle and smothered the danger.
Attempt to change the game pattern
Shakhtar made a double substitution at the break: Karban and Shevtsova appeared instead of Ustinova and Maslovska. The second half began with a chance for Seasters: after a delivery into the goal area, an aerial challenge followed, with Vasyliuk first to the ball – Karban made a diving clearance right on the line, playing it to Henyk, who cleared it into the opposing half. However, the visitors’ next attack proved effective: after a diagonal pass, Pantsulaia broke free from her marker and struck into the left corner, making it 0–2. A minute later, the Miners responded with a chance of their own: Chaika aimed for the near corner from the central semicircle – Klimova was there. The match then settled into a phase of positional play and end-to-end attacks, with the Odesa side again coming out on top as Bondarieva extended their lead.
