Shakhtar played a test match vs Czech side Slovácko
The manager of the Orange-and-Blacks Arda Turan fielded the following line-up: Riznyk took his place between the sticks, Matviienko and Bondar played in central defence, Vinicius Tobias and Pedro Henrique appeared as fullbacks, Marlon Gomes, Bondarenko and Sudakov operated in midfield, Alisson and Kevin were the wingers, with Danylo Sikan in the centre-forward role.
The game was even, but the opponents scored
From the start of the match, the Miners tried to play on top and their first attacks looked sharper in the opening minutes. Right at the beginning, Kevin played one-two with Sudakov on the left flank and fired on target – the Czech goalkeeper saved it. Alisson made a dangerous cross from the right side, but the keeper beat Eguinaldo to the ball. Bondarenko tried to push the ball into the net from the left corner of the penalty area, but defenders blocked him. Gradually, Slovácko players became more active up front, and although Riznyk made solid saves in a couple of moments, even the Pitmen's goalkeeper couldn’t stop the ball in the 26th minute: Havlík took a free kick, a rebound confused Riznyk and the ball flew into the net through the centre. Almost immediately, Bondarenko had a chance to equalize, but instead of shooting from a good position, he made a careless pass. Arda Turan’s side kept pressing, and Kevin, in classic style, cut inside from the left and fired diagonally – Geča saved his team by tipping the ball over for a corner. Eguinaldo headed the ball from the resulting corner – just wide of the post. The Czechs also had a chance to score a second goal: Stoychevski hit the post after a corner delivery and Reinberk’s follow-up went wide.
Newertton’s goal and playing time for almost everyone
At half-time, Shakhtar made two substitutions, bringing on Pedrinho and Kaua Elias. From the start of the second half, the Pitmen pushed forward in numbers and created many dangerous chances. Alisson fired from the edge of the penalty area under the crossbar after a quick one-two – the goalkeeper saved the Czechs. But Alisson responded to a through pass from Sudakov and scored in the next attack, elegantly chipping the keeper, however, the referee disallowed the goal due to offside against the Brazilian. In the 62nd minute, the coaching staff made almost a complete change, bringing on Tvardovskyi, Konoplia, Ghram, Faryna, Azarov, Nazaryna, Ocheretko, Shved and Newertton. The fresh players immediately increased the tempo, performing together several combinations, and in the 71st minute, they equalized: Shved delivered a cross from the right corner of the penalty area to the far post, where Newertton headed the ball in almost from the goal line, making it 1-1. In the remaining time, the Orange-and-Blacks came close to snatching a victory, with the best chance coming in the 80th minute: Newertton crossed from the left flank, Kaua Elias cleverly passed it to a teammate and Pedrinho volleyed from the centre of the penalty area, but once again, Czech keeper Geča pulled off an incredible save, tipping the ball over the bar. Another great chance came in stoppage time, when Kaua Elias shot from close range but was denied by the goalkeeper and Azarov’s follow-up was blocked by defenders. 1-1 – a draw in a training game between Shakhtar and Slovácko.
As early as this Thursday, July 10, the Miners will kick off their new season. Shakhtar will host Ilves in the home match of the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round. The game will take place at the Stadion Stožice in Ljubljana, Slovenia. It kicks off at 21:00 Kyiv time (20:00 СЕТ). Tickets are on sale.
