Shakhtar midfielder played football with the kids, answered their questions, signed autographs and gave gifts

On June 11, Shakhtar footballer Dmytro Kryskiv visited the Artek international children’s centre, which will soon celebrate its 100th anniversary. The legendary holiday camp relocated after the annexation of Crimea and is now based in Kyiv and partly in Zakarpattia.

The meeting between the player of the Orange-and-Blacks and the boys and girls currently staying at Artek in Pushcha-Vodytsia was packed with activities. To start with, Dmytro joined the children for a warm-up session on the football pitch, followed by a series of mini-matches. Kryskiv awarded the participants with official FC Shakhtar scarves after each game.
Honestly, I’ve never been to a camp like this before, but I’ve heard a lot about them from friends and maybe I even dreamed of going myself as a child. So today I came here with extra excitement and really enjoyed seeing how well the kids are spending their time and doing great things
Dmytro Kryskiv, Shakhtar player:

– Honestly, I’ve never been to a camp like this before, but I’ve heard a lot about them from friends and maybe I even dreamed of going myself as a child. So today I came here with extra excitement and really enjoyed seeing how well the kids are spending their time and doing great things. They are all wonderful, they play football really well, but most importantly, they are truly joyful and happy. I think this was a special event for them too because I remember how exciting it was for me as a child to meet a professional footballer. I could feel that same joy in their eyes today. That’s why I wanted to share this happiness with them. I hope there will be more meetings like this, so we can see even more happy kids.

Then there was a chat: the kids sked Dmytro all sorts of questions: how he became a footballer, his career at Shakhtar, what motivates him and what he still hopes to achieve in football.

Maksym Kryvtsov, Mariupol:

– When I found out Dmytro Kryskiv was coming to visit us, I was shocked! I never thought I’d get the chance to play with him. It was so cool, I got great emotions. And I was happy he answered my question and signed my scarf!

Ilona Varfolomieieva, Zaporizhzhia Oblast:

– Everything was wonderful. We played football and got scarves and autograph cards. But the most memorable part for me was playing in the same team with Dmytro Kryskiv. When I heard he was coming, I was so excited. Such happy feelings!

Ruslan Borodin, Kyiv:

– I really enjoyed it because I’m originally from Makiivka in Donetsk Oblast. My mother and grandmother support Shakhtar – they used to attend matches with my father. So I felt a storm of emotions today!

The kids had the chance to get autographs and take photos with Dmytro Kryskiv. Shakhtar player then took a group picture with all the participants at the end.
