Three Shakhtar Academy teams passed the play-off stage and will compete for DUFL awards in the final matches of the season
According to the results of the two-match showdowns of the Ukrainian Youth Football League final stage play-offs, three Shakhtar Academy teams defeated their opponents and qualified for the final round of the competition.
U14. Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0, 1-1 Chornomorets Odesa U14
In the away match, the Miners had more possession of the ball, dictated the pace of the match and secured a narrow victory thanks to Puhaiko’s goal. The scenario practically did not change in the home game: the Pitmen had a territorial advantage, actively combined near the opponent’s penalty area and managed to score – Miskevych scored a goal. In response, the Odesa-based team briefly seized the initiative and reduced the gap thanks to Borovyk’s well-placed penalty kick.
U15. Shakhtar Donetsk 0-2, 1-0 AF Rukh Lviv U15
In the first match, there was intensive struggle in every area of the field, with neither team wanting to give in. But the Lviv-based team were more successful, and Hordeiev’s goals decided the fate of the game already in the first half. The result of the previous match forced the Orange-and-Blacks to move forward actively in order to fight back and nullify the opponent’s advantage, however, Oleksandr Ovchynnikov’s side managed to reduce the gap to a minimum after Abramov’s accurate shot only at the end of the match.
U16. Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0, 1-2 AF Rukh Lviv U16
The first half of the home game was played toe-to-toe, but in the second half the Miners increased their speed and scored twice thanks to the efforts of Trokhym and Kots. The away match was extremely dynamic and intense: Rukh opened the scoring with successful finishing by Ivantsiv, and later Uhrik equalised the score on the volley. The Miners became more active and snatched the victory in the added minutes after the set piece with Bida’s final shot.
U17. Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1, 6-1 Kremin Kremenchuk
The Miners confidently defeated Kremin in the first match. From the start, the Pitmen seized the initiative, dominated the midfield and created numerous chances near the opponent’s net. Derykon, Foina, Chornenkyi, Kovryzhenko and Tverdokhlib scored for Shakhtar. Kremin managed to respond only with Starushko’s goal. The second leg followed a similar scenario. The Pitmen again carried the play, controlled the ball and regularly threatened the opponent’s goal, and as a result, they once again demonstrated high performance: goals were scored by Derykon, Sereda, Foina (twice), Kovryzhenko and Tverdokhlib. Kremin responded with the only goal by Dmytro Kyrylets.
The final stage of the tournament will be held in Mukachevo at the Munkach Football Academy facility. According to the regulations, the four winners of the play-off matches from each age category will form semi-final pairs. The teams that win in the semi-finals will play against each other for first and second places, while those that lose will compete for bronze medals.
