Comment of head coach of Shakhtar women’s team Roman Zaiev after the game against Metalist 1925
– The team acted reliably in defence in the first half, but conceded four goals in the second half. What was the reason for the conceded goals and why were the two halves so different?
– We prepared very thoroughly for today’s match, considering the opponent we will be playing against. In the first half, they followed all the instructions given before the game, taking into account the aspects used by Metalist 1925. However, in the second half, fatigue probably took its toll, and Metalist 1925 added pressure on our goal, which we could not deal with. Again, the factor of the first conceded goal is very significant, especially in such matches. Probably, the team fell apart psychologically after this goal.
– It is noticeable that Shakhtar actively used Viktoriia Holovach’s flank during counterattacks. Is this a special game plan?
– We try to use the trump cards we have, and Viktoriia Holovach is exactly that performer. Unfortunately, we do not have enough players who can perform all the technical and tactical actions necessary to achieve a result, so we asked the defence and midfield to focus on the left wing. The footballers still need to learn to perceive the game faster to minimize the time it takes to make decisions. We could not counterattack effectively because of the lack of time.
– What will the preparation for the match against Seasters be like, given that there is little time to prepare?
– Since we played two matches without a day off, the team will have a rest day tomorrow. On Monday we will conduct a full recovery training session, on Tuesday we will have a pre-match session, after which we will leave for Odesa.
